Why take this course?
This course is designed to advance your performance and future prospects in current employment roles by providing you with a basic but well recognised qualification in computing and IT. It is suitable for students who would like to to gain an internationally recognised vocational qualification - the European Computer Driving Licence - in some of the main aspects of computer and IT use. This module takes a unique learning approach, combining independent study and tutor guidance so you can work at your own pace. It will enhance your understanding of spreadsheets and is ideal for self-starters.
What you will experience
Through practical exercises and demonstrations, this course will give you a broad knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel:
- Module 4 - Spreadsheets
This course covers one module of the complete ECDL programme. In order to gain the qualification, students are required to complete a total of 7 modules and their associated assessments. The course is delivered using Syllabus 5 and Microsoft Office 2013.
There are no formal entry requirements but all students should have basic knowledge and experience when it comes to using computers, including how to use a mouse. This course is a suitable follow-on from introductory computing courses.
What you need to know
This course does not include the formal ECDL assessment, which is undertaken outwith the course itself. However, one attempt at each module assessment is included in each individual course fee. Students who wish to be assessed may book themselves into formal assessments. Assessments will take place in the College Assessment Centre at either the Aberdeen City Campus or the College Learning Centres in Peterhead and Inverurie. Tutors will advise students on when to book tests depending on their progression through the course.
