Why take this course?

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed for occupations in performing mechanical maintenance engineering operations – including the ability to organise work and identify and prevent problems.

SVQs are based on national occupational standards which the candidate must meet to be competent in a particular task. The achievement of an SVQ encourages employees to value their contribution to the workplace, and it will develop their skills and potential within the performing engineering operations field.

This course is primarily aimed at those in employment, or those taking part in a Modern Apprenticeship programme.

What you will experience

This qualification covers the fundamentals skills and knowledge common to engineering and maintenance practices, including health and safety requirements and communicating engineering information. It offers an extensive choice and flexibility for learners to demonstrate competence in one or more of a broad variety of engineering and manufacturing activities.

You will build the knowledge needed to use technological principles to solve engineering problems, generating innovative solutions to issues in maintenance. Essential core skills in communication, numeracy, IT, problem solving and team working will also be developed.
