Why take this course?

This is a classroom based academic programme at a level similar to second year university. It provides the 18 credits required to top-up the HNC Mechanical Engineering qualification so that it becomes the HND Mechanical Engineering qualification.

What you will experience

Topics

The course focuses on how to solve mechanical engineering problems using mathematical solutions, which are applied to mechanical engineering principles.

Study requirements

  • Evening class students: You will be expected to attend two evening classes each week, 5:45pm – 9:00pm, and an additional third evening class a week for 9 weeks of the course. The self-study requirements will be between 6 and 9 hours per week.
  • Day Release students: You will be expected to attend one 8 hour day at College each week, 8:30am – 5:30pm. The self-study requirements will be between 6 and 9 hours per week.
  • At Fraserburgh Campus, students will be required to attend one day per week, 8:50am – 9:00pm (including breaks) plus self-study time.

This course has a number of assessable reports and a graded unit project which will need completion and access to study materials outwith class time. Significant preparation for assessment and examination is also required.
