Why take this course?

This Unit forms part of the Advanced Higher Mathematics course but can also be studied as a stand alone Unit. The Advanced Higher qualification enables learners to develop skills in selecting and applying complex mathematical techniques in a variety of situations requiring knowledge of mathematics. These skills will enable progression to further learning and to employment.

The general aim of this particular Unit is to develop advanced knowledge and skills that involve geometry, number and algebra, and to examine the close relationship between them.

What you will experience

You will cover the use of mathematical operational and reasoning skills relevant to geometry and systems of equations. You will also develop key skills in logical thinking, and the Outcomes covered will focus on matrices, vectors, solving systems of equations, the geometry of complex numbers, and the processes of rigorous proof.
