Why take this course?

The qualification is based on Security Industry Authority (SIA) specifications and requirements, and will cover the necessary understanding and skills required for those who wish to pursue a career within the private security industry.

What you will experience

This course is delivered by an approved qualified and experienced trainer, and will provide you with all the knowledge and skills needed to achieve each of the learning outcomes and pass all assessments required for certification. Course content includes:

  • Unit 1 – Working in the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 2 – Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 3 – Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry and;
  • Unit 4 – Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry*

The course is assessed by three multiple choice exams, along with a written tutor-marked assessment and observation for the Physical Intervention element. Please note that pre-course reading and some self-study will be required for Unit 1 – Working in the Private Security Industry.

The course will run on two consecutive weekends:

  • Saturday, 9am-5pm (both weekends)
  • Sunday, 8:45am-5:15pm​ (both weekends)
  • Monday, 5:30pm-9:30pm (second weekend)

*Please note, anyone undertaking the Physical Intervention Skills unit, must be in good physical health. Anyone with any concerns in relation to this should contact the part-time learning team at part-timelearning@nescol.ac.uk before booking a place on the course.
