It is recommended that candidates with no previous knowledge or experience in this subject area complete the Introductory Certificate in Logistics and Transport (Level 2) before undertaking this course.
This exam and assignment-based course is a free-standing qualification, designed to provide a sound foundation for a career within the transport and supply chain fields and to provide learners with a complete set of management skills. It is aimed at team leaders, new supervisors or aspiring managers. It is also recommended for anyone making a career change.
The qualification comprises of two mandatory units and one optional unit from a choice of eight.

You will be assigned a tutor who is a subject specialist in your chosen subject area(s). Your tutor will support you throughout the course to ensure you are fully prepared for the exam. This involves setting target dates for completion of tasks (which will be submitted for marking and feedback provided), answering any queries or questions you may have as you progress through the course materials and delivering a tutorial session to help prepare you for the examination.
Your tutor will also look over your assignment and provide feedback prior to final submission to CILT. Candidates must successfully complete two core units and 1 optional unit to be awarded the CILT (UK) Level 3 Certificate in Logistics and Transport. The Level 3 Certificate is knowledge-based and will be assessed by means of external examination and an externally marked assignment.The exams for the two mandatory units consist of 25 short-answer questions and 2 long answer questions (from a choice of 3). The optional unit is assessed by means of an externally marked assignment.

Students must register with the awarding body The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) immediately upon booking their course with North East Scotland College in order to receive CILT course materials.
On making an application to NESCol, learners can opt to apply for student membership by visiting ciltuk.org.uk/join or calling CILT Membership Services on 01536 740104. By quoting NESCol as their Centre and using promotional code ‘CILTAO’, a reduced rate for Student Membership of £29 per annum will be available.
Examination dates are set by CILT and are currently offered in January, June and October each year. Six weeks notice is required by North East Scotland College in order to book the exam dates with CILT. For details of the exam dates and requirements please contact:
