Why take this course?

If you have completed an introductory or beginners level computing course, then this course will provide you with the training you need to be confident and successful in your computing efforts.

This course will provide an introduction to the basic uses of Word Processing, Excel Spreadsheets as well as how to create folder structures and keep stored files tidy.

Whatever your aims, you’ll benefit from a broad range of new computer skills.

This course will be delivered using Microsoft Office 2016, and is designed to provide students with a firm understanding of Microsoft Office applications, so learners should finish the course with a good grasp of word processing and the basics of using spreadsheets.

You will also undertake a National Unit in Information & Communication Technology.

Course content may be tailored by the tutor to meet the needs of individual groups of learners, and will include:

  • Further exploration of Word
  • Formatting and aligning text
  • Working with images
  • Inserting ClipArt and pictures
  • Introduction to Spreadsheets (Excel)
  • Opening, closing and saving worksheets
  • Creating graphs
