This course provides an opportunity for you to develop an understanding of the principles, structure, processes and procedures used in the Food and Drink Manufacturing Industry.

There will continue to be significant job opportunities across all occupations within the food and drink sector in Scotland. We’ll always need food, so there will always be jobs!

What you will experience

This Foundation Apprenticeship is made up of a National Progression Award (NPA) in Food Manufacture at SCQF Level 6, Awards in Health & Safety and Food Hygiene at SCQF Level 5 and five units from the SVQ in Food and Drink Operations at SCQF Level 6 as well as a work placement.

Units included in the programme as part of the NPA Manufacture include Food Manufacturing:

  • Fundamentals of Food Science
  • Food Manufacturing: Food Production
  • Food Manufacturing: Commercial and Social Drivers
  • Food Manufacturing: Sustainability
  • Food Hygiene
  • Health and Safety

In addition, the SVQ in Food and Drink Operations will be completed through a work placement with a focus on developing productive working relationships with colleagues, interpreting and communicating information and data, developing new products and contributing to food safety.
