Hotels, bars and restaurants offer tourists and locals alike the opportunity to appreciate our outstanding regional food produce and experience a great night out.
The hospitality industry recruits a vast number of skilled and unskilled workers each year and the workforce continues to be heavily reliant upon young people aged 16–19 years but it has never been more important to support the pipeline of talent coming into the sector. The hospitality industry is looking for a new generation of dynamic people with leadership and management skills.
This course is designed to enable you obtain the key competences required for entry into operational, supervisory and management positions in a wide range of hospitality businesses.
The hospitality industry is truly international. It is an important and growing sector in Scotland and the UK and career opportunities are wide and varied both at home and abroad. This course has a heavy emphasis on practical skills and developing the personal and interpersonal skills crucial in the customer-focused world of hospitality.
Assessments during the course are varied with a range of project work, investigative activity and practical activity involved.
HNC Hospitality Operations with Events will allow you to:
• gain leadership skills and a customer focused attitude through an understanding of the role of a team leader/supervisor.
• gain an understanding of the structure and organisation of the industry and the influence it has on the economy.
• develop knowledge and skills in main operational areas, such as, food and beverage service styles and techniques, food hygiene and control systems.
• progress to further studies or prepare for employment in the hospitality industry.

Entry requirements
- Minimum of two Highers at grade C or above in English, Maths, Modern Studies, Business Management, Geography, History or equivalent
- Successful achievement of an appropriate Level 6 course
- Those with proven extensive industrial experience within hospitality

How do I pay for this course?
If you are studying a full-time advanced course (HNC level or above), you may be entitled to funding.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
This course is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programme. This means that you are required to have access to your own laptop computer, netbook or similar device in class each day that you are in college.
This may be funded or part-funded by a bursary, if you are eligible to receive one.
