Why take this course?

Alcohol misuse costs the UK around £21 billion in healthcare and crime every year. This varies from young people who overindulge on a night out and end up in hospital, to older people who are alcohol dependent or alcoholics.

Have you ever thought about how you could make a difference? This course is designed to help raise awareness around alcohol misuse.

This course is best suited for learners aged 16 and above. The qualification is accredited by the NCFE — a national awarding organisation. For more information please visit the NCFE website.

What you will experience

This qualification consists of one mandatory unit: Introduction to Alcohol Awareness for the Individual. It provides an introduction to some of the issues surrounding alcohol use. Raising awareness of these issues will help give people the basic knowledge needed to support their lifestyle and wellbeing and promote healthy choices.

The unit is split into six manageable sections:

  • Section 1: Alcohol unit strengths
  • Section 2: Alcohol misuse
  • Section 3: Effects of alcohol misuse
  • Section 4: Health issues
  • Section 5: Withdrawing from alcohol
  • Section 6: Help and information

To achieve the NCFE Award in Alcohol Awareness (Level 1) you will be required to successfully complete the mandatory unit. Course work will be internally and externally moderated, but there is no end test.
