There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, due to the limited number of available places a selection process may be applied.
Activity tourism is becoming increasingly important to our regional economy. This course you will help you to be develop a broad range of core and transferable skills associated with working with tourists, eg product creation and management; safety awareness and group working, as well as expanding your knowledge of the wide variety of tourism opportunities, present and future, in and around Aberdeenshire.
This Level 4 National Progression Award will introduce you to the wide variety of both outdoor and indoor activities that tourists enjoy: from sightseeing to skiing ; canoeing to cookery and painting to paintball. As well as taking part in both active and more passive activites like these, you will learn what our region has to offer, investigate local businesses and explore employment opportunities.
Alongside a study of Tour Guiding (Level 5) you’ll gain further practical experience, eg in planning itineraries and helping to organise and deliver an activity tourism experience.

You will need to wear suitable clothing for outdoor sessions, ie warm and waterproof jacket/footwear. A small contribution to entry/equipment hire costs may be required, depending upon the venues visited during the course.

Eating and drinking are not permitted in classrooms. Drinking water is available from water dispensers in the corridors within the College buildings.

This course is only available to pupils in S4 to S6 across Aberdeenshire, giving pupils the opportunity to experience life as a College student whilst staying on at school.
You can apply for a place on this course by completing an online application form, which you can access using the ‘Apply Online’ button. Once completed, this will be received by our Admissions Team who will then process your application.
Please note that courses are subject to minimum viability levels. In the event of insufficient numbers of applications, courses may be withdrawn from the programme. Certain courses are arranged with schools working in a consortium arrangement – in such cases, pupils from consortium schools will be given priority in the allocation of places.
