The College also helps to boost cultural enrichment through its wide range of part-time programmes.

The College works closely with the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils, Scottish Government bodies, employers and other educational establishments to maintain and strengthen its influence in the development of the region and its people through the courses, facilities and progression opportunities available.

The College recruits over 6,500 full-time students each year across a wide range of vocational and academic areas, and a further 12,000 students enrol on part-time and distance learning courses.

Our main hubs of delivery are located across Aberdeen, Fraserburgh and Peterhead with learning centres in Ellon and Inverurie.

In addition to the six academic campuses and centres, the College also operates a Business and Community Development department (offering a range of part-time courses) and the Scottish Maritime Academy in Peterhead.

In addition to the curriculum offering, the College also has its own wholly owned subsidiary known as ASET International Oil & Gas Training Academy –a specialist training company delivering training courses  for the Oil & Gas, Engineering, Renewable, Marine and Construction industries.

The Role

You will be responsible for overseeing the effective and efficient operation of the IT and Technical Services Department, supporting around 20,000 staff and students across seven College locations, as well as enabling and supporting flexible and remote study. You will be responsible for a team of 40+ with four direct reports. As Director of IT and Technical Services, you will plan, direct and co-ordinate all operational activities of the department together with the provision of IT, Technical Services and IS based solutions to support the business processes.

Working closely with colleagues on the College Leadership Team to derive, implement and manage the strategy of IT and Information Systems (IS) developments, you will provide on-going cost-effective solutions for all aspects of the organisation’s business activity and development and ensure IT capacity to adequately support current and projected business volumes.

You will be responsible for all IT and IS systems including, but not exclusively, in-house software, networks, telecoms, outsourced operations, bought-in services and portable devices.
