The Energy Transition Skills Hub (ETSH) has been recognised at the Scottish Green Energy Supply Chain Awards, securing the Green Energy Skills Award for its outstanding contribution to developing the workforce needed for the evolving energy sector.

Held in Aberdeen on 28 May and organised by Scottish Renewables, the Awards celebrate organisations across Scotland’s renewable energy supply chain that are driving the changes required for the energy transition.

The Green Energy Skills Award honours those who are going above and beyond to prepare the energy workforce of the future.

The Energy Transition Skills Hub was founded by ETZ Ltd, Shell UK, and North East Scotland College, with support from the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund and UK Government funding. Adura is the lead industry partner.

It provides industry-ready learning in welding, fabrication, advanced manufacturing and emerging digital technologies, equipping learners with the skills required for low-carbon energy systems.

The accolade also highlights the impact of the ‘Energy on the Move’ outreach vehicle, which has delivered 138 free workshops to secondary school pupils since August last year, building early awareness of the energy transition and careers.

NESCol Principal Neil Cowie said, “This award is a fantastic recognition of the work taking place at the Energy Transition Skills Hub. Ensuring the workforce has the right skills is critical to achieving Scotland’s Net Zero ambitions, and we’re proud to be providing learners with the knowledge and practical experience needed to succeed in the rapidly changing energy sector.

“The Hub will support over 1000 individuals into employment in its first four years, including school leavers, unemployed adults, and those looking to upskill or reskill.

“This work is supported by the ‘Energy on the Move’ vehicle, which helps to shape a more informed future workforce, visiting schools across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.

“Together with our industry partners, we are creating clear pathways into sustainable careers in the energy sector.”
