NESCol celebrates success in the Bridge2Business Awards

May 26, 2021

NESCol has been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories of the Bridge2Business Awards.

The College has been recognised in the Enterprising FE College of the Year and Social Enterprise of the Year categories.

The Bridge2Business Awards, organised in conjunction with Young Enterprise Scotland, celebrate enterprise across the further education sector.

The work of the NESCol Student Advice and Support Team and the variety of enterprise-focused activity undertaken over the past year – ranging from Business Idea Generator Sessions to an Enterprise and Employability Week and Virtual Careers Week – impressed the judging panel as finalists in the FE College of the Year category were chosen.

The selection in the Social Enterprise category follows the work of staff and students in professional cookery, learning opportunities and events management to create and distribute food in Aberdeen over the festive period in partnership with the homelessness charity Street Friends. The project was supported by the security and facilities teams at NESCol.

NESCol Principal Neil Cowie said: “We take great pride in our role as an anchor organisation within the communities we serve and both of these nominations reflect that commitment in different ways. Being selected as finalists is a fantastic endorsement of the energy and passion of students and staff and my congratulations go to all involved.”

The winners will be announced on 3 June in an online ceremony.
