NESCol offers two Modern Apprenticeships (MA) in the areas of Business & Management:
Both MAs combine paid employment with flexible learning through NESCol.
Apprentices gain industry-recognised qualifications while building practical workplace skills.

Business and Administration
The Business and Administration Modern Apprenticeship is designed for people working in administrative roles in an organisation, such as finance, HR, events, IT, projects and data analysis.

Administration Modern Apprentices started in Scotland in 2025/26¹
The Business and Administration MA framework outlines what apprentices need to learn and achieve to complete their apprenticeship.
It includes:
- One Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ)
- Core Skills (SCQF Levels 5 and 6) or Career Skills (SCQF Level 8)
- Enhancement

SCQF levels show the overall level of learning of the MA.
SCQF Level 5
Suitable for apprentices who are developing their business administration skills and gaining workplace experience.
SCQF Level 6
Builds on existing skills and knowledge, with increased responsibility and involvement in supporting business activities.
SCQF Level 8
An advanced level for those with responsibility for people, projects, budgets or business operations.
A typical Business and Administration MA lasts two years.
This MA is fully work-based.
The Sector Skills Council for the Business and Administration MA is Instructus Skills.
Management
The Management Modern Apprenticeship is designed for people who are already working in a management role, or who are preparing to progress into one.
This MA is suitable for for organisations of all sizes, across the public, private or voluntary sectors.
It helps apprentices build the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead teams and become more effective managers.
