Rebekka McLaughlin

Modern Apprenticeship

Logistics Operations

“I wanted a qualification that would prove and support my ability. I chose Logistics Operations as this is the largest part of the role I carry out. I left school and worked my way up so it’s really nice to have a qualification that proves I’m competent in this area.”

Rebekka is the Office Coordinator at Oleochem Project Management. She is one of a team of 3 responsible for running the UK operation so her role is busy and varied and includes sales, logistics, HR and commercial tasks. She enjoys learning and having a goal to work towards which is why she chose the apprenticeship route.

Rebekka explains, “I wanted a qualification that would prove and support my ability. I chose Logistics Operations as this is the largest part of the role I carry out. I left school and worked my way up so it’s really nice to have a qualification that proves I’m competent in this area.”

Rebekka said that she challenged herself by selecting modules that were not easy. She said, “When you are trying to evidence your job you don’t really think of it in a lot of depth – whereas for this I really had to take time to think about what I was doing. As a result I have been able to streamline my role. Time is a big thing in my role so any that I can claw back is good.”

Rebekka has completed her Modern Apprenticeship qualification in Logistics Operations whilst she has been working from her kitchen table, which has become her new office during the pandemic.

She has been shortlisted as a finalist for the NESCol Apprentice of the Year award.

“It really cheered me up when I received the email telling me I was a finalist. Amongst all the doom and gloom of Coronavirus and now dealing with Brexit, it was nice to have something to show that I had done a lot of hard work and done it well!”
