Adverse weather: NESCol campuses to remain closed until Monday
January 4, 2026
North East Scotland College campuses will remain closed to students for the remainder of this week.
Learning moved online on Monday (5 January) and courses will continue to be delivered online on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to ensure the safety of students and staff during the ongoing adverse weather and travel disruption.
The wellbeing of the College community is NESCol’s priority, with forecasts for continued snow and freezing temperatures leading to the decision to extend the current closures.
Students should access the MyNESCol virtual learning environment each day for information specific to their course.
The campuses closed to students for the week are:
- Aberdeen Altens Campus
- Aberdeen City Campus
- Fraserburgh Campus
The Scottish Maritime Academy in Peterhead will reopen for some groups. Individuals will be contacted directly to confirm arrangements.
Students in need of support during the campus closures can book an appointment online. Wellbeing support and 24-hour access to counselling is also available via Spectrum Life. Students also have access to the NESCol Mental Health Toolkit and NESCol Student Wellbeing Toolkit.
It is hoped campuses will reopen on Monday (12 January). Confirmation of plans for next week will be shared by email, MyNESCol, the NESCol website and social media channels.
NESCol staff will continue to work remotely for the remainder of the week, although access to campuses may be possible on Thursday and Friday for staff who require it and can travel safely. Further information on these arrangements will be shared directly with staff by email.
