This course will provide an overview and introduction to the disciplines within the sports coaching and development industry. It provides an exciting mix of practical subjects, which are studied alongside related theory, giving you the opportunity to develop new skills, improve on existing skills and gain an in-depth understanding of sports coaching and development subjects. Learners will visit and participate in a variety of sporting events and festivals and be given the opportunity to gain additional sports and fitness qualifications.
The course will provide learners with an industry-recognised qualification, and the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a professional within the sports industry in a variety of contexts. Embedded within the course are varied National Governing Body Awards in a variety of sporting delivery. The course provides learners with the industry-recognised PDA qualification certified by SportScotland/CIMSPA (Level 2 and 3 Coaching Framework).

You will be invited for a group interview (HN Transition to Sport day Thursday 20 June, 9am – 3:30pm) which you must attend as part of the entry requirements, where you can find out more information about the course and tell us why you’re interested in this subject area.
HND in Sports Coaching and Development (including PDA in Sport Coaching) SCQF Level 7 & 8.
You will be required to purchase a NESCol Sport kit to be worn in all practical classes. In non-practical subjects, students may wear smart but casual clothes but no football colours are permitted in any environment.
Applicants whose first language is not English should have a minimum B2 English Language Level (National 5). An entry test can be arranged if you do not have a B2 qualification.
If you are studying a full-time advanced course (HNC, HND or above), you may be entitled to funding.

This course is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programme. This means that you are required to have access to your own laptop computer, netbook or similar device in class each day that you are in college.
If you do not already own a suitable device you can apply for a student loan from SAAS, if eligible, to fund the cost of purchasing a device.
