“I am really enjoying experimenting with mixed media especially textiles”

Lynn-Marie Duncan came to NESCol to study Art and Design at Fraserburgh Campus straight from school.

She explains, “In my final year at school I knew I wasn’t ready for University. It felt like a big jump and I thought I would benefit from two years at College first – developing my art skills, a chance to sort out my organisational skills and still being close to home.

“Ever since I was small I have always loved art and learning about its history. I come from a creative family and they’ve all been really supportive, encouraging me to pursue a subject that I love and that’s why I enrolled on to the HNC in Art and Design and why I plan to carry on with my HND next year. My goal is to be accepted into Gray’s School of Art and then start my own business hopefully selling my own work.”

Whilst at College Lynn-Marie aims to build up her portfolio and work on her portraiture and still life skills. She said “I am really enjoying experimenting with mixed media especially textiles – the lecturers and my classmates are so supportive.  Everyone helps each other, offering feedback if something just isn’t working. It’s good teamwork.”

Lynn- Marie said, “There is a good balance of theory and practical. On any project we have to annotate and detail our thought processes. I made a good decision coming to College – it’s not easy, you have to manage your time and workload but I know that will help me in the future.”
