HND Events Management

“I’m so proud to have achieved my HND and come so far on my journey to achieving my degree. There is no age limit to education and achieving your dreams. If anyone else is thinking about returning to education, I would tell them to go for it!”

Mercy Brown (48) from Aberdeen decided that the time was right to return to full-time education in 2020. Prior to coming to the UK in 2013, she had studied marketing at the equivalent of HND level in Nigeria. She said, “I’ve always wanted to go back to education and work towards a degree but, due to work and other commitments, I didn’t have the opportunity until the Covid pandemic started.”

She said, “I reached a point in 2020, in the midst of the storm of the pandemic, when I realised I needed a change of career as I wanted more out of life and a purpose. I’ve always been a people person and I really enjoy organising events. This, combined with my passion for customer service, meant that HND Events Management at NESCol seemed like the perfect choice. I was also attracted to the course because it gave me the opportunity to progress to third year of a degree and I felt like it would give me the scope to work in any company.”

She enjoyed studying at NESCol and was delighted to be able to go straight into the third year of a BA in International Hospitality Management on completion of the course. She said, “I’m really glad I decided to go for it two years ago. I’m so proud to have achieved my HND and come so far on my journey to achieving my degree. There is no age limit to education and achieving your dreams. If anyone else is thinking about returning to education, I would tell them to go for it!”
