Electrical Installation Apprenticeship

“During my apprenticeship I’ve been involved a lot in domestic properties – rewiring houses, kitchens, bathrooms and full rewires of new houses plus some small industrial work as well. it’s been a lot of fun and I’ve learnt a lot of new things.”

Scott Fraser works for Dennis Gordon Electrical in Fraserburgh and he is close to finishing his 4 year electrical apprenticeship. This has been a combination of block release at Fraserburgh Campus and on the job training. He is a finalist in NESCol’s Apprentice of the Year 2020 awards.

During his apprenticeship, lecturers chose Scott to represent NESCol within a prestigious inter-college competition organised by the Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust (SECTT).

Scott joined the business from leaving school, although he says that this was quite unexpected.

“I fell into this career path really”, he said “ but I’m glad I did. During my apprenticeship I’ve been involved a lot in domestic properties – rewiring houses, kitchens, bathrooms and full rewires of new houses plus some small industrial work as well. it’s been a lot of fun and I’ve learnt a lot of new things.

“In the future I definitely want to continue with electrical work – there’s a lot of new things to learn and there’s plenty of room to expand my knowledge”
