NESCol shortlisted for Herald Education Award
April 10, 2026
North East Scotland College (NESCol) has been announced as a finalist at the Herald Education Awards 2026 for its innovative school partnership project.
The annual Herald Education Awards celebrate the achievements of Scotland’s universities and colleges. This year saw a record-breaking 200 nominations across 18 award categories, with winners to be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow on 20 May.
The College has been shortlisted for the Partnership with Schools Award for ‘Life with Sign’ – a video game created through a partnership between S2 Kemnay Academy pupils and HND Games Design students at NESCol. Using virtual reality, the game introduces players to sign language in an engaging and accessible way.
NESCol Principal Neil Cowie said, “This nomination reflects the creativity and commitment of everyone involved, and demonstrates how powerful collaboration between schools and colleges can be.
“By bringing together different perspectives and talents, the team has produced an inclusive learning experience that has the potential to make a real difference.
“Congratulations to the student designers, the Kemnay Academy pupils who shaped the concept, and the curriculum staff who made the partnership possible.”
