NESCol in the running for two CDN College Awards

North East Scotland College (NESCol) has been shortlisted in two award categories at the CDN College Awards 2025, recognising the College’s contributions to education and innovation.
The awards showcase the achievements and impact of colleges across Scotland, as well as their staff and learners.
This year saw a record-breaking 199 submissions, with the panel of judges selecting three nominations to shortlist for each award category. The winners will be announced in December at an awards ceremony in Glasgow.
NESCol has been shortlisted for the following awards:
Innovation and Research Award
Student-Centred Curriculum Redesign Project
NESCol’s creative industries curriculum team introduced a fun video game feedback tool to gain more meaningful data from students about course content.
Lecturer of the Year Award
Marleen Mowatt: Inspiring Careers at Sea
Lecturer Marleen Mowatt has been recognised as a passionate educator and advocate for maritime learning at NESCol centre of excellence, the Scottish Maritime Academy (SMA).
NESCol Principal Neil Cowie said, “What a fantastic way to start this new academic year. NESCol is delighted to be shortlisted for two awards that truly reflect the dedication and talents of our staff.
“From lecturers like Marleen – who are powerful role models and experts in their field – to creative approaches to our curriculum, it is inspiring to see the lengths our staff go to in ensuring students have the best possible learning journey and college experience.
