Why take this course?

This Unit forms part of the National 5 Mathematics course but can also be studied as a stand alone Unit. The National 5 qualification enables learners to acquire and apply operational skills necessary for developing mathematical ideas through symbolic representation and diagrams. They will select and apply mathematical techniques and will develop their understanding of the interdependencies within mathematics.

The general aim of this particular Unit is to develop skills linked to applications of mathematics. These include using trigonometry, geometry, number processes and statistics within real-life contexts.

What you will experience

You will cover the use of mathematical operational skills linked to applications and learn to use the mathematical reasoning skills involved in trigonometry, geometry, number processes and statistics within realistic contexts.
