You will require National 5 Mathematics, relevant component units or an equivalent course.
This Unit forms part of the Higher Mathematics course but can also be studied as a stand alone Unit. The Higher Mathematics course enables learners to develop skills in selecting and applying mathematical techniques in a variety of mathematical situations.
The general aim of this particular Unit is to develop knowledge and skills that involve geometric applications, applications of sequences and applications of calculus. These skills will enable progression to further learning and to employment. Learners will experience in-depth study of the ways in which mathematics describes our world, and become skilled in interpreting, analysing, communicating and managing information in mathematical form.
You will cover the use of mathematical operational skills linked to applications and use mathematical reasoning skills linked to applications. The main Outcomes in the Unit cover aspects of algebra, geometry, calculus, and also skills in mathematical reasoning and modelling.
